Kids Behavior in Playing.

In play, children learn to interact with others and behave according to pr-established rules. Play has also been cited as a tool that children use for morality development. Prior to 4 months of age, toys for infants should be colorful, high contrast and simple. She may enjoy toys that make a sound when batted or kicked, but have limited physical control. By 4 to 7 months old, he can manipulate objects and use his hands independently, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. From 8 months to 1 year, children are mastering gross motor skills and learning about object permanence through play. Push and pull toys are ideal for a young toddler and he is apt to enjoy a sturdy play set or dollhouse. Toddlers can begin to work simple puzzles, stack blocks or explore musical instruments, according to FisherPrice.com. Simple pretend play begins at this age. From 18 to 24 months, improved fine motor skills and understanding allow him to use shape sorters. Better verbal skills open up the beginning of social play behavior. Children may integrate toys into their pretend play. "Pretend play consists in part of detaching behavioral routines and objects from their customary, real-life situational and motivational contexts and using them in a playful fashion.  The child who really goes to sleep usually does so in bed, at bedtime, and when sleepy.  The child who pretends to go to sleep will do so in other places, times, and psychological states; the routine is disconnected from its usual situational and psychological context"

Play behavior in children changes and develops as they age, from early games of peek-a-boo to taking turns and finally to developed games with complex rule systems. Play is critical for children, providing opportunities for learning, skill-building and relaxation. In fact, the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights deems play to be a right of every child according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
